Una Prentice (1913 - 1986) was one of the first female lawyers in Australia. She was the first graduate of the University of Queensland Law school in Queensland〔( TC Beirne School of Law Web Page ).〕 of either gender. She was also the first woman admitted to the bar in Queensland, the first Woman prosecutor for the Australian Commonwealth Crown Solicitor〔(Una Prentice ) at the Queensland Government Webpage.〕 and the first female librarian of the University of Queensland Law Library.〔Grant, H 2005, Great Queensland Women, State of Queensland (Office for Women), Brisbane.〕 Her enrolment at university was opposed by the Dean, and initially she encountered considerable opposition to her employment.〔(Trove National Library of Australia biography ).〕 However, after the war in 1946 she joined the Brisbane firm of ''Stephens & Tozer'' and on the birth of her first child, Roger, resigned to raise a family but became the Australian President of the ''Business and Professional Women's Association''.
